Academic Process

Preparation of foreign citizens and stateless persons for admission to higher education institutions of Ukraine provides:

  • study  the language of instruction and other academic disciplines in a non-native language in accordance with the curricula and programs of pre-university training of foreign citizens, approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine;
  • study  the state language or language of instruction, other scientific and natural disciplines according to the programs of the intensive training course;
  • systematization of knowledge of the level of general secondary education acquired by foreigners at home and bringing them to the level of requirements of secondary education of Ukraine;
  • socio-psychological, socio-cultural, linguistic adaptation of foreigners to living conditions in Ukraine and study in higher education institutions.

Foreign citizens arriving for full-time study (1 year) study Ukrainian or Russian (at the entrant's choice), scientific style of speech, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, basics of computer science, linguistics course "Local History". Besides, due to the bilingualism of the Poltava region, students have an introductory second language course (in the case of choosing Ukrainian as the language of instruction they can choose an introductory course in Russian and vice versa).

The term of study of the full course with the study of these disciplines is 37 weeks of class hours and 4 weeks of sessions. The training is divided into semesters. After the first semester, students take differentiated tests in general education disciplines and oral and written language exams. After the second semester they take final exams in Language (oral and written), Chemistry, Biology, and Physics and differentiated tests in Mathematics, Computer Science, National Culture Studies. Students who have successfully passed the tests and final exams receive a Certificate of Graduation of a standard form.

For foreign citizens who plan to study at the university in basic specialties in English, an intensive course of Ukrainian (Russian) as a language of communication, scientific style of speech and biology in English is offered.
