Training specialists for foreign countries has become one of the most important priorities of state policy in many countries, including Ukraine, which transmits its cultural and national values through the export of educational services.
Poltava State Medical University is among the national HEIs, which during the existence of the International Faculty has gained positive experience in the internationalization of higher medical education, in particular in organizing a holistic process of training modern medical professionals for foreign countries.

Since 2002, the Faculty Board and the cycle methodical commission for foreign students training have been working at the University. Its main functions are the development of methodological foundations for foreign students training and control of its quality directly at the departments. Since 2004, students have been trained in English in the specialties of Dentistry and General Medicine.

The administration of the University gives priority to the most experienced teachers from among the teaching staff who, using the material and technical base and applying innovative teaching technologies, provide quality education to foreign students.
The total number of the academic staff of the University is 619, including: 

• 89 Doctors of Medical Sciences, 
• 428 PhDs.
• 75 persons have the academic title of the Professor.
• 277 persons are Associate Professor.

Among the academic staff there are 7 Laureates of the State Prize of Ukraine, 11 Honored Doctors of Ukraine, 7 Honored Masters of Science and Technology of Ukraine, 1 Honored Health Worker of Ukraine,1 Honored Innovator of Ukraine.
114 faculty members have the Certificate on English Level B2, 53 faculty members have the Certificate on English Level C1. 
The main mission of the Faculty is to train highly qualified, competitive in the world market of medical services specialists who are experts in their profession, have fundamental and professional training, focused on achieving high-end results in public health care in their countries, educated in the spirit of better achievements and acquisition of world science and culture.

According to the approved plan, the administration of the Dean’s Office and curators of the academic groups carries out activities aimed at observing moral norms of behavior by foreign students in the new socio-cultural space, fostering friendly relations between different ethnic groups and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

International students are actively involved in amateur art, sports life and scientific work of the University.
Students of the International Faculty have repeatedly won prizes in student scientific conferences with reports in English and Ukrainian.
