ALL-UKRAINIAN ACTION "16 DAYS AGAINST VIOLENCE" STARTS TODAY

Every year in Ukraine, from November 25 to December 10, inclusive, the International Campaign "16 Days Against Violence" is held, initiated by the First World Institute for Women's Leadership in 1991. Campaign start and end dates are not chosen by chance. They create a symbolic chain, combining measures against violence against women and action to protect human rights, emphasizing that any manifestation of violence against a person, regardless of gender, is a violation of human rights.
The 16-day campaign period covers the following important dates:
November 25 - International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The day was officially declared by the UN General Assembly in 1999.
December 1 - World AIDS Day.
December 2 - International Day against Slavery.
December 3 - International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
December 5 - International Volunteer Day.
December 6 - Commemoration of female students shot in Montreal.
December 9 - International Anti-Corruption Day.
December 10 - International Human Rights Day.
The purpose of the action is to draw public attention to the problems of overcoming domestic violence, child abuse, combating human trafficking and protecting women's rights.
Violence is the use of force or psychological pressure through threats deliberately directed at the weak or those who cannot resist. That is, any use of force against the defenseless.
"Violence takes many forms and manifestations. More or less visible, they equally harm a person and violate his/her rights, "said practical psychologist Tetiana Klymach. She also reported on a number of educational activities that will be carried out during this period at the university in order to acquaint the student community with possible manifestations of violence in different environments.
