On October 28, 2025, Poltava State Medical University (PSMU) hosted a training session delivered by representatives of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) for PSMU students and “ALMINO” Student Parliament volunteers.

The event took place within the framework of the international YABC (Youth as Agents of Behavioural Change) program — a youth initiative aimed at developing soft skills, leadership, and effective interpersonal communication.

The main focus of the training was active listening and effective communication.

Participants took part in a series of interactive exercises that helped them:

  • develop attentive listening skills;
  • improve their ability to articulate thoughts clearly;
  • build effective teamwork and cooperation;
  • experience both the listener’s and the speaker’s roles.

Students worked in pairs, simulated communication scenarios, shared reflections, and received constructive feedback from the trainers. The overall atmosphere was productive, motivating, and friendly.

At the end of the session, participants expressed their gratitude to the Red Cross representatives for their valuable insights and collaboration, as well as their willingness to continue the partnership. Future meetings and new educational activities for PSMU students are already planned.

The training became an important step in strengthening the soft skills of future medical professionals, as effective communication is an essential component of the doctor’s profession.
