For more than a century Poltava State Medical University is known by its highly qualified medical professionals. Once again, on June, 30th, 2022 the university graduated 1172 highly trained young medical doctors; 70 of them acquired significant achievements during all the years of study and today they received diplomas with honors.
Just yesterday all current graduates were students of Dental and Medical Faculties No. 1 and No. 2, the International Faculty, students of the Educational and Scientific Medical Institute and the Professional Medical and Pharmaceutical College, and now they hold their coveted diplomas in their hands, which confirm that from now on, they are fully trained professional junior bachelors, paramedic bachelors, nursing bachelors, masters of medicine, dentistry, pediatrics and public health.
The atmosphere was solemn and positive emotions flowed throughout the university campus. This year the graduates received their hard-earned diplomas during the difficult time of martial law in Ukraine. They mournfully bowed their heads in a moment of silence for those who died in the war with the russian federation, and listened with special attention to the parting words of the Teacher and Mentor of more than one generation of doctors, Rector of the Poltava State Medical University, Professor, Honoured Doctor of Ukraine, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology Vyacheslav Zhdan. On this day, he called them colleagues for the first time, expressing his deep belief that the students of his Alma Mater will represent the title of graduate of the Poltava State Medical University with dignity in all corners of the world and, having received a significant amount of knowledge in our University, will replenish it throughout their life, and their teachers will always be ready to help them.
Despite the difficult situation, graduates of the International Faculty travelled thousands of kilometres to Poltava to personally receive their diplomas in their native university. Residents of Morocco, Iran, and China are among them. They will return to their native countries, and proudly carry the name of the graduate of the Poltava State Medical University.
And the medical dynasties of Poltava also continue to carry on their traditions. The family of the well-known surgeon, professor Ihor Ksionz, his wife, Oksana Ksionz, and daughter Kateryna Nestulia, who were also graduates of PSMU in the past, congratulated their son Volodymyr on his successful graduation from the university. Volodymyr Ksionz expressed his confidence that his fellow students, graduates of this year, received the best knowledge to be worthy successors of the work of their teachers.
Ruslan Kozak, dentist, scientist, volunteer, a person with a bleeding heart, who constantly provides assistance to the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Territorial Defence Units, a graduate of PSMU himself, now can also call his son Roman a colleague. After all, he successfully graduated from a Professional Medical and Pharmaceutical College and received a dental technician diploma.
The class of 2022 will go down in the history of Poltava State Medical University as the graduation of medical workers hardened by life trials in the conditions of the pandemic and war in Ukraine.
"Together we will cope with everything! Because we are an indomitable people! And you have a great future ahead of you! Good luck! Glory to Ukraine!" - the Rector of the PSMU, Professor Viacheslav Zhdan, concluded his farewell speech for the graduates of 2022.
