Graduation of Hope 2025: PSMU Presented Diplomas to Future Doctors

One of the most anticipated events took place at Poltava State Medical University (PSMU) — the solemn graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025. This moment marked not just the completion of academic training, but a powerful testament to the resilience, determination, and professional motivation of future doctors. After all, pursuing an education during a pandemic and full-scale war is a true challenge.

The event began with a moment of silence to honor those who lost their lives in the russian-Ukrainian war. Attendees expressed sincere gratitude to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the opportunity to study, grow, and dream of a peaceful future. A moving video reminded everyone of the challenging yet inspiring journey — from enrolling in 2019 to the most memorable moments of university life: studying, exams, cultural events, and supporting each other through hard times.

PSMU Rector, Professor Viacheslav Zhdan, addressed the graduates with heartfelt words:

“In life, there are three things that never return: opportunity, word, and time. You have seized the opportunity — you’ve become professionals. Now remember, a doctor's word can heal or harm, so speak with responsibility. And most importantly — don’t stop. Move forward, grow professionally, and bring people health, hope, and well-being. I wish you to meet good people and skilled mentors on your journey, for a true doctor’s education lasts a lifetime. And remember — the doors of this university are always open for you!”

Among the honored guests was Anton Chubenko, Deputy Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, who emphasized that the 2025 graduates not only received a quality education but also learned to adapt in extremely difficult conditions — a sign of maturity and professional resilience.

Oleksandr Lemeshko, First Deputy Head of the Poltava Regional Council, wished the young doctors to work under a peaceful Ukrainian sky and expressed gratitude to the international graduates for trusting Ukrainian medical education, even in the most difficult times.

The official greeting segment concluded with Victor Lysak, Director of the Department of Health of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, who urged young doctors to remain true to their humanity — to be responsible, honest, and dedicated to their profession regardless of circumstances.

Amid loud applause, flowers, smiles, and heartfelt emotions, graduates received their most important document — their medical diploma.

The ceremony began with recognition of outstanding students. Then, diplomas were awarded to 21 international graduates from the international and dental faculties, representing India, Pakistan, Tanzania, Nepal, Morocco, Nigeria, Jordan and Uganda.

Ukrainian students from the Dental Faculty, Medical Faculty No. 1, and Medical Faculty No. 2 also received their diplomas, marking the end of their studies at PSMU.

The event concluded with warm wishes, words of encouragement, and unwavering belief in future achievements — both personal and for the country as a whole. For every graduate, this day was not just the culmination of years of hard work, but the true beginning of a great mission. From now on, their path is a calling — to serve people and contribute to the development of Ukrainian and global medicine.

For it is they who will shape its future — full of hope and professional victories.
