On December 1, the global community marks World AIDS Day — a day dedicated to raising awareness about prevention, support, and the dissemination of accurate information about HIV. Our university continues its social and educational mission and did not stay aside from this important occasion.

To mark World AIDS Day, Neonila Prylutska, Assistant of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No. 1 at PSMU, conducted an outreach session for teenagers at the Caritas Poltava charitable organization.

Making the complex simple.

The main goal of the meeting was to increase young people’s awareness of HIV transmission routes, prevention methods, and the importance of a tolerant attitude toward people living with HIV. The audience consisted of the foundation’s beneficiaries — teenagers from vulnerable groups who require special attention and support from professionals.

Neonila Prylutska chose a friendly, trust-based conversation format rather than a formal lecture. In clear and accessible language, she explained complex medical topics and emphasized that knowledge is the strongest tool in combating the disease.

During the session, participants discussed:

Myths and facts about HIV/AIDS

The importance of testing and early diagnosis

Responsible attitudes toward one’s reproductive health

The university’s social responsibility.

Cooperation with organizations like Caritas Poltava is an important direction in the work of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No. 1. The faculty aims not only to educate future doctors but also to share expert knowledge with the community, helping young people make informed choices toward a healthy lifestyle.

The event took place in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The teenagers had the opportunity to ask questions and receive qualified answers.
