As part of the Erasmus+ International Academic Mobility Program, from September 31 to October 4, 2024, Associate Professor Mariia Faustova, the Department of Microbiology, Virology, and Immunology, completed the staff training for teaching at the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain).
During the training, Mariia Faustova actively participated in the educational process for students majoring in "Biology," "Medicine," and "Biotechnology" at the University of Santiago de Compostela. She had the opportunity to engage in practical, seminar, and assessment sessions on Microbiology and delivered lectures on antibiotic resistance and the HIV/AIDS problem in Ukraine, presenting both global trends and her own scientific findings. Mariia Faustova familiarized herself with the peculiarities of teaching the subject and the overall organization of the educational process at one of the oldest universities in Europe, with plans to implement the best practices at PSMU.
In addition, Mariia Faustova had the opportunity to visit the University Dental Clinic and learn about the education process for future dentists at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Spain.
Mariia Faustova expresses her gratitude to the administration of PSMU, the Research Department for the opportunity and organization of the training, as well as to her direct mentor, Dr. Ana Otero Casal, the Head of the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology at the University of Santiago de Compostela; Professor Ángela María Muñoz, the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology at the University of Santiago de Compostela, and Professor Mario Pérez-Sayáns, the Department of Oral Surgery and Implantology at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
