On April 24, the lecturers of the Department of Ukrainian Studies and Humanities at PSMU took part in a special meeting: an online literary event titled "Historical Shadows of Mykola Lazorsky." Together with the literary club "Malvy" (Australia) and the I.P. Kotlyarevskyi Poltava Regional Universal Scientific Library, the scholars honored the creativity of this unique Ukrainian artist from Australia.
We continue to uncover the names of Ukrainian writers in the diaspora. Mykola Lazorsky (Korishko) was a writer, historian, and a native of Poltava. His words transcend time and distance to tell us about his homeland, its beauty, pain, and greatness. In his novella "Shadows," Lazorsky depicts the meeting between Shevchenko and Kotlyarevskyi in Poltava—a literary episode, like a letter from exile, full of longing for the Motherland.
The event was organized by Nataliya Poshyvaylo-Towler, the Head of the Union of Ukrainian Women in Victoria, Australia, Melbourne.
The meeting was held with the support of the World Federation of Ukrainian Women's Organizations, the Ukrainian World Congress, the Ukrainian Women’s Association Victoria, and the Ukrainian Women's Association Australia.
