The Essen Institute of Virology and Microbiology supports the Ukrainian Poltava State Medical University (PSMU) in establishing a center for the detection and treatment of infectious diseases. For this purpose, Ukrainian doctors and employees of the laboratories of the Poltava Regional Infectious Disease Hospital and PSMU were trained at seminars at the Essen University Hospital.
The next step of cooperation was the development of a grant project to provide Poltava clinicians and scientists with diagnostic equipment. From the German side, the director of the Institute of Virology Professor Ulf Dittmer, Gennadiy Zelinskyi and project coordinator Ursula Schrammel took an active part. Organizers from Ukraine were professors Igor Kaidashev, Tetyana Koval and Iryna Shkurupii. The result was the signing of the corresponding Agreement on the implementation of the project by university rectors, professors - Barbara Albert and Vyacheslav Zhdan, and the management of the clinic, Torsten Kaatze.
The first equipment for MiniVidas immunofluorescence studies has already arrived at PSMU and the Poltava Regional Infectious Disease Hospital.
