INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF DUISBURG-ESSEN, GERMANY: IMPRESSIVE PARTNERSHIP SUPPORT

On January 11, 2023, as part of the partnership of PSMU with the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE), an extended meeting of the management of PSMU with the administration of UDE took place in an online format. The purpose of the meeting was to inform both parties about the first steps of cooperation and further plans for the development of cooperation.
Poltava State Medical University was represented at the meeting by the Rector of the of the PSMU, Professor Viacheslav Zhdan, the First Vice-Rector Professor Valentin Dvornyk, the Vice-Rector for Research and Development Professor Igor Kaydashev, the Vice-Rector for Research and Clinical Studies Professor Ihor Ksonz, the Head of the Educational Department Professor Ivan Starchenko, Head of the Department for International Relations Iryna Shkurupii.
In his welcoming speech, the Rector of the university, Viacheslav Zhdan, thanked for the organization of the meetings, which became the key to successful cooperation between the universities, and also expressed his gratitude for the support and assistance during the difficult times of russian aggression against Ukraine. Despite all the difficulties of the wartime, the scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff of the university believe in the victory of Ukraine in this war and are sincerely interested in effective cooperation with their German colleagues.
The University of Duisburg-Essen was represented by Professor Ulf Dittmar, Representative for cooperation with PSMU, Director of the Institute of Virology, UDE; Professor Jan Buer, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UDE; Professor Joachim Fandrei, Vice Dean for Learning and Teaching, UDE; Mr. Thorsten Kaatze, Commercial Director of the Medical University; Dr. Ursula Schrammel, cooperation coordinator, employee of the Institute of Virology, UDE; Dr. Gennadiy Zelinskyi, an employee of the Institute of Virology, UDE.
During the meeting, UDE representatives summed up the results of the work carried out within the framework of cooperation: signing a Memorandum of Understanding, filing an application for grant assistance from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) as part of the "Partnership with Hospitals" project with a list of needs of PSMU in the field of virology, microbiology, infectious diseases and their diagnosis with the possibility of practical training for specialists in this field, the launch of a special online program for advanced students of medical faculties of PSMU with a series of lectures of the Winter Academy "Infections and Immunity".
Both sides expressed their confidence in further successful and fruitful cooperation.
