We continue to publish a series of reviews of PSMU students about training under the clinical cycle program as part of a partnership project between the University of Glasgow and Poltava State Medical University. This time, Anna Shpak, a 5th-year student of the Medical Faculty No. 2, shared her impressions.
"My studies in Scotland have ended. Trying to study in another country was a challenge in itself. Now I can say that it was an incredible six months, I got a lot of invaluable experience, travels and impressions. Every day of my training I had the opportunity to communicate with patients, collect anamnesis, conduct certain studies under the supervision of doctors. For the first time during my studies, I was in the operating room and in childbirth! The simulation center is generally something incredible. State-of-the-art mannequins, pleasant teachers and interesting situational tasks.
Every week we had lectures in the format of free communication with teachers and students, where we discussed different diagnoses and everything about them.
What I liked the most was being present at the appointment with the doctor. We had 30 minutes for each patient, which made it possible to collect a detailed history and conduct a proper examination of the patient. After each patient, we discussed the situation and looked at similar pictures of some disease.
It was a very rich, vivid, unparalleled 6 months of study. Also, thanks to him, I could travel and rationally allocate my time to study and rest.
Thanks to PSMU for this opportunity!"
