PhD student of the Department of Human Anatomy of PSMU Oleksandr Maksymenko received a grant to attend a global surgery course, which took place from September 9 to 13, 2024 in Oxford, UK.  Notably, the Oxford University Global Surgery Group is a group of clinicians and researchers who work together to promote the provision of high-quality surgical care around the world, especially in low- and middle-income countries. This year's course was attended by about 40 doctors, including general and pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists, obstetricians, and trauma surgeons. The purpose of this course is to discuss, support, scale up and implement safe, high-quality and timely surgical, obstetric and anesthesia care for populations around the world with limited and insufficient access to health care. The main partner was KidsOR (Kids Operation Room), an organization that builds and installs operating rooms in low-income countries (Africa, Asia and Latin America), enabling children to access the safe surgical intervention they truly deserve.

Thanks to the grant, Oleksandr Maksymenko was able to participate in the event, exchange experience with colleagues from different countries and learn about new approaches in surgical practice.

Moreover, this grant demonstrates the high level of training of scientific personnel at PSMU and thus contributes to the international prestige of Ukrainian medical institutions.
