June at PSMU: A Month That Saves Lives Even Under the Sound of Sirens

In times when war affects everyone, the ability to act in emergency situations is absolutely vital. That’s why in June, a team of trainers from Poltava State Medical University (PSMU) actively contributed to the implementation of the LIFESTRAND project by conducting a series of first aid training sessions for 102 educators from educational institutions in the Machukhy territorial community in the Poltava region. The training sessions utilized equipment purchased through the LIFESTRAND – ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE project.

Educators are not only carriers of knowledge — they are the ones who are often by children's side during critical moments. They may be the first to save a life before medical professionals arrive. That’s why the training focused on the essentials:

-Basic life support

-Control of critical bleeding

-Transport immobilization in trauma cases

-Assistance during stroke, myocardial infarction, and seizure episodes

-Actions during upper airway obstruction

-Tactics for managing patients with compromised airways and penetrating chest or abdominal wounds.

These are not just a set of skills — they are survival tools in a reality where every second can be decisive.

The training cycle concluded with a final discussion, during which participants shared their emotions, highlighted key takeaways and exchanged experiences.

We sincerely thank all the participants for their dedication, active involvement and willingness to learn in order to help others in emergency situations.

Special thanks go to the team of professional LIFESTRAND project instructors:

Senior trainers: Ihor Pratsko, Volodymyr Koka, Serhii Kononenko, Yuliia Cherniavska. Junior trainers: Aliona Turnaieva, Alina Davydenko, Vladyslav Telegan, Amaliia Asoian, Oleksandr Ordiunov, Danylo Ovcharenko. Your professionalism, sincerity and drive to make the world a better place is the foundation of our shared mission.

Even a single training session today is a real step toward saving lives tomorrow.

We continue working within the project — training and preparing those around us for quick, confident action. Because in times of war, knowledge saves lives.
