December at Poltava State Medical University became a time of action, hands-on practice and conscious readiness to help. During this winter period, another series of first aid trainings took place at the University’s Simulation Center within the EU Erasmus+ LIFESTRAND project, bringing together active, caring and highly motivated participants.
The trainings were attended by students and faculty members of Poltava State Agrarian University and Poltava V. G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University. In total, more than 200 participants joined the sessions — not just to gain knowledge, but to learn how to act confidently in critical situations.
Throughout the trainings, participants practiced essential first aid skills: cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) algorithms, control of severe bleeding, assistance in cases of airway obstruction, basics of immobilization, and safe support for injured persons. The sessions were delivered by junior trainers Vladyslav Telehan, Volodymyr Dobrovolskyi, Anastasiia Kharchenko, Rostyslav Radchenko, and Danylo Ovcharenko. Theory quickly turned into practice, with training scenarios designed to be as close to real-life situations as possible.
The atmosphere was warm yet focused — there were no random people here, only those who truly understand that the ability to provide first aid can one day save someone’s life.
Such initiatives once again prove that cooperation between higher education institutions, exchange of experience, and learning together help build a strong, conscious, and responsible community.
We are grateful to all participants for their active involvement, openness to new skills and readiness to step in when it matters. Each training is another step toward a safer future and a society that knows how to support one another.
