On May 31, 2025, the Simulation Center of Poltava State Medical University (PSMU) hosted a first-aid training session for employees of the Main Directorate of the State Tax Service in Poltava region. The training was conducted within the framework of the international project “Life Support Training and Dissemination (LIFESTRAND)
for higher education institutions and community representatives living in military risk areas of Ukraine and Georgia”, implemented under the Erasmus+ program, blending theory with hands-on simulation.
Participants first learned the theoretical foundations of pre-medical (first) aid and then transitioned to hands-on training using advanced simulation equipment. A key component of the course involved scenario-based simulations, enabling participants to practice emergency response skills in conditions that closely mimic real-life critical situations.
Training topics included:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Cotrol of Severe Bleedin
- Transport Immobilization in Case of Fractures
- Emergency Response to Stroke, Myocardial Infarction, and Anaphylaxis
- Management of Upper Airway Obstruction
The training was conducted by the LIFESTRAND project’s experienced instructors:
Senior Instructor Ihor Pratsko and Junior Instructor Aliona Turnaieva.
Following the practical portion, participants engaged in a debriefing session to share feedback, reflect on their experience, and highlight the significance of such training in preparing for real-life emergencies.
The LIFESTRAND project continues to be successfully implemented at PSMU, enhancing practical skills and strengthening Ukraine’s system of pre-medical emergency training.
