On September 4–6, 2025, the international congress “NeuroGASTRO 2025” was held at Queen Mary University in London, United Kingdom. The event, organized every two years under the auspices of the European Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (ESNM), brought together 767 participants from 58 countries worldwide.

Among the attendees were three professors from Ukraine, including Professor Ihor Skrypnyk, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Postgraduate Education, Professor of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 1, and President of the Ukrainian Gastroenterological Association.

The congress focused on the most pressing and unresolved issues in neurogastroenterology. A postgraduate education course introduced participants to current approaches to diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal motility disorders, as well as the role of the enteric nervous system in neuroimmune dysfunction.

Plenary and sectional sessions addressed key topics such as irritable bowel syndrome as both a somatic and mental comorbidity, the role of microbiota in the pathogenesis of diseases affecting various body systems, and the microbiome–gut–brain axis in conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, among others.

Professor Ihor Skrypnyk also took part in the ESNM General Assembly as a member of the European Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility.

The congress left unforgettable impressions not only from the scientific presentations but also from the opportunity to engage directly with leading experts in European and global gastroenterology.
