For several years in a row, the Ukrainian community has been celebrating the World Day of Ukrainian Headscarf on December 7. On this day, interesting workshops and flash mobs, original thematic events and presentations take place all over the country, the participants of which are happy to share bright photos in colorful headscarves on social networks. Teachers of the Department of Ukrainian Studies and Humanities together with PSMU foreign students also join the celebrations. This is a great opportunity to share a piece of culture, customs, revitalized ancient traditions and language.
Foreign beautiful girls who are studying at PSMU have already tried on the amazing Ukrainian headscarves, admire their patterns and compare them with elements of their traditional national costumes.
This year, they created their own colorful headscarves with colored paints and imagination. During the master class “Draw me a headscarf …” they saw with their own eyes what headscarf are, how they are tied and worn, what ornaments and for what purpose masters use them when creating a traditional Ukrainian woman's headdress. They also listened with delight to the symbolic, sacred significance of the headscarf for all Ukrainians.
December has just begun, so there will be a lot of holidays and colorful folk festivals ahead! Foreigners are waiting for new unforgettable impressions of the unique, mysterious Ukraine…
