The All-Ukrainian competition of student scientific works under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has recently finished at Poltava State Medical University
Participants of the scientific group "Laboratory diagnostics" of the Department of Physiology under the supervision of Tetiana Mamontova, Associate Professor, PhD in Biological Sciences took an active part in the scientific event and presented the results of two scientific projects in the "Medicine" section.
The scientific objective of the group was the study of various aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic in modern medicine. The participants creatively approached the solution of the tasks of the research projects. Khairddin Hassan in cooperation with Berko Emmanuel Ofori determine the status of and adherence to vaccination against COVID-19 among Lebanese adults. Young scientists have achieved success by creating a research project based on individual authentic material from their own country.
Interest in immunology determined the further direction of Serhii Trotsko's work, which investigated the genetic drift of mutations of Sars-Cov-2 virus variants in Ukraine. The chosen topic of the research project required not only a deep dive into the genetic mechanisms of the viral disease, but also a systematic analysis of advanced scientific research, which made it possible to assess the powerful prospects of molecular diagnostic methods for solving the urgent needs of medicine under the COVID-19 pandemic.
Scientific research was highly estimated by the jury of the competition and the 2nd Degree Diploma was awarded for the work presented by Khairddin Hassan and Berko Emmanuel Ofori, and the 3rd Degree Diploma to the work presented by Sergei Trotsko. Scientific supervisor is Tetyana Mamontova.
An important priority for the development of university science is the support of talented young people and scientific supervisors of student scientific groups, who with energy and inspiration during the war time make efforts to solve the problems of modern medicine.
