The Scientific Research Department is pleased to announce the accession of Poltava State Medical University to the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI).
United Nations Academic Impact is the network of more than 1400 universities in more than 145 countries, sharing a culture of intellectual and social responsibility. The Initiative was founded in 2010 by the United Nations Department of Global Communications.
The application for membership in the UNAI was developed and submitted for consideration in January 2022 at the initiative of Prof. I.P. Kaidashev, the PSMU Vice-Rector for Research and Development. Joining the initiative, Poltava State Medical University once again declared its loyalty to the international academic values, as well as its readiness to contribute to solving urgent problems of mankind.
Membership in UNAI involves compliance with, development and dissemination of 10 basic principles:
A commitment to the principles inherent in the United Nations Charter.
A commitment to human rights, among them freedom of inquiry, opinion, and speech.
A commitment to educational opportunity for all people regardless of gender, race, religion or ethnicity.
A commitment to the opportunity for every interested individual to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for the pursuit of higher education.
A commitment to building capacity in higher education systems across the world.
A commitment to encouraging global citizenship through education.
A commitment to advancing peace and conflict resolution through education.
A commitment to addressing issues of poverty through education.
A commitment to promoting sustainability through education.
A commitment to promoting intercultural dialogue and understanding, and the “unlearning” of intolerance, through education.
UNAI members are required to foster and promote these principles on campus in undertaking at least one activity each year which actively addresses at least one of these ten basic principles.
In addition, UNAI membership provides vast opportunities for international collaboration on research and training projects with other UNAI members. For a complete list of UNAI members visit: https://www.un.org/sites/un2.un.org/files/unai_members_list_january_2022.pdf.
