Since early morning, the university library at Poltava State Medical University has been filled with guests, students, and faculty members as the annual “Donate a Book to the Library!” campaign kicked off in celebration of International Book Giving Day. Participants enthusiastically contributed to enriching the library’s collection.

The first to join the initiative was the Rector of the university, Professor Viacheslav Zhdan, who presented the library with two copies of the textbook Clinical Anatomy and Operative Surgery. Vol. 1, edited by V. I. Pivtorak and O. B. Kobzar (Vinnytsia: Nova Knyha, 2021, 568 pages). His example inspired both students and faculty to actively support the campaign.

During the event, the Rector shared memories from his student years. At that time, only a few textbooks were issued per group, and there were not enough for everyone. To prepare for classes, students gathered in the reading room, studied together, and supported one another. These memories serve as a reminder of the true value of books and the importance of access to knowledge for all.

We remind you that the campaign is ongoing. Books can be donated to the PSMU Library not only on the holiday itself — the library is always happy to receive contributions that expand its collection and support students and faculty in their studies and research.

Join the campaign, donate a book, and contribute to fostering a culture of reading and strengthening the university’s academic potential!
