From October 23 to 25, 2025, two major scientific events — the seminar “All Aspects of Fibrosis” and the symposium “Advances in Hepatology – From Mechanistic Insights to Novel Therapeutic Concepts” — were held in Berlin, Federal Republic of Germany.

Professor Ihor Skrypnyk, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Postgraduate Education, Professor of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 1, President of the Ukrainian Gastroenterological Association, together with Professor Hanna Maslova, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 1 and Secretary of the Ukrainian Gastroenterological Association, took part in these events. They presented six poster reports based on scientific studies conducted in recent years.

The seminar on fibrosis included five scientific sessions that addressed the mechanisms of fibrosis in the liver, intestines, lungs, and adipose tissue. Considerable attention was devoted to the heterogeneity of fibroblasts, the assessment of fibrosis, and the search for effective antifibrotic therapies.

Over the course of two days, eight scientific sessions and panel discussions highlighted the key achievements in hepatology in 2025, providing an in-depth analysis of the prevalence and incidence of liver diseases worldwide. Participants explored modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of metabolically associated steatotic liver disease, cholestatic liver diseases, hepatocellular carcinoma, and cholangiocellular carcinoma.

The events were organized by the Herbert Falk Foundation, which invited leading global experts in hepatology, including Prof. M. Pinzani (United Kingdom), A. Sanyal (USA), E. Bugianesi (Italy), V. Ratziu (France), Z. Younossi (USA), and others.

A distinguished lineup of speakers, a rich scientific program, and panel discussions on the most relevant areas of hepatology made these events highly impressive and valuable experiences for all participants.
