The problem of obesity is being discussed worldwide. Faculty members of the Department of Internal Medicine № 3 with Phthisiology Assistant Yanina Avramenko and Associate Professor Anna Lavrenko have also joined the discussion of the topical issue. They conducted a series of talks with the 5-year students of group 31 of the International Faculty. The negative effects of overweight and obesity on human health have been discussed, including an increased risk of the development of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, metabolic disorders, hormonal disorders, complications of many chronic diseases, including asthma and COVID-19 acute respiratory disease.
The lively interest of the listeners was aroused by the discussion of measures to combat obesity, namely regular physical activity, walking, running, swimming, cycling. It is recommended to spend at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day. Importantly! Obesity is a problem that can and should be tackled. This requires, first of all, the desire of the people themselves to change their habits and lifestyle.
