On September 1, 2021, the ceremonial meeting of the Academic Council of Poltava State Medical University was held in the “Lystopad” Palace of Leisure. It hosted the traditional ceremony of the Freshmen Initiation. The most well-prepared and motivated entrants, who showed the highest level of knowledge, became students of the University which is known far beyond Ukraine, which this academic year crosses the threshold of its 100th anniversary.
The ceremonial meeting of the Academic Council was opened by the welcome speech of the Rector of PSMU, Professor Viacheslav Zhdan and was addressed to the freshmen. In particular, he noted that they have rightly joined the pleiad of the best university students and educators and will have every opportunity to perform to the utmost of their abilities. “Do not waste precious time studying and you will succeed! Good luck!” – the Rector concluded.
On behalf of the administration of the region and the city, freshmen and their parents were greeted by the Head of Poltava Regional State Administration, Doctor of Juridical Science, Associate Professor Oleg Syniegubov and the Head of Poltava City Council Oleksandr Mamai. The alumnus of the University, Bishop Filaret of Novokakhovka and Henichesk, called not only to work on acquiring skills and abilities, but also to always learn to love. A real medical professional always strive for love for people, for colleagues, for patients of the nation.
The Hippocratic Oath was solemnly taken by the freshmen, already wearing white medical gowns for the first time in their lives, before a full audience and excitedly listened to the greetings, inspiring by the deep sense of the song about doctors as white angels, made to the lyrics of Maria Boyko and music by Anatoly Pyliai, performed by the “Vagant” group and choreographic group “Milior”. PSMU artistic teams created a festive atmosphere and also joined the greetings.
It will take some time and Poltava State Medical University will welcome many guests, including state officials, alumni and connoisseurs of high professionalism of the university’s centennial classical traditions, developed and currently being implemented by the PSMU. On October 8, 2021, at the state level, the University will celebrate its 100th anniversary! The freshmen, who have just taken the Hippocratic Oath and put on white medical gowns for the first time, will go down in the history of the University as the students of the centennial anniversary year…
