THE SECOND PART OF THE UNIFIED STATE COMPLEX EXAM STARTED AT THE INTERNATIONAL FACULTY OF PSMU

On June 11, 2021, the students of the Dentistry Degree Program on the specialty 221 “Dental studies” sat for the objective structured clinical exam (OSCE) that is the second part of the Unified State Complex Exam.
The exam is constructed of 12 stations, including therapeutic dentistry, oral surgery, prosthetic dentistry, pediatric therapeutic dentistry and pediatric oral surgery, orthodontics, emergency medicine.
All students must complete tasks of the same difficulty, assessed by the exam supervisors using a checklist; move to the stations on the route list, where students perform tasks in the same conditions for the same period of time. The examinee  is offered various clinical situations (clinical cases) and practical tasks, and the exam supervisor observe his/her actions, analyze them, and, at the same time, objectively assess his/her knowledge and abilities, practical skills, both when working with phantoms and simulators, and with real patients.
Students’ competences and skills are assessed on the basis of the principles of objectivity, structuredness and approximation to the real clinical situation, using the developed assessment scale.
The students were acquainted with the set of tasks included in the OSCE in advance, and attended consultations organized at the departments. There was also a general assembly of the students taking the exam, which was attended by Iryna Tkachenko, the Chairman of the Examination Commission, Tetyana Petrushanko, the Guarantor of the Dental Degree Program and Liliya Burya, the Dean of the International Faculty.
