The implementation of the Erasmus + project “Life Support Training and Dissemination (LIFESTRAND) for Higher Education Institutions and Community Representatives living in Military Risk Areas of Ukraine and Georgia)” continues at PSMU. On October 09-10, 2024, a training for junior trainers was held at the Simulation Center of Poltava State Medical University under the guidance of Senior Trainers Volodymyr Koka, lecturer at the Department of Accident and Military Medicine and Yevhenii Chip, Assistant Professor of the Department of Surgery No.3. The training was attended by the 2-5- year students of PSMU Medical Faculties No. 1 and No. 2. They are extremely motivated, self-confident, energetic and creative young people. The two-day training program was intense and included training in basic resuscitation, practicing determining the patient's condition, ensuring airway patency, safety assessment, artificial ventilation using an Ambu bag and face mask, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, performing high-quality chest compressions, and practicing assisting victims with injuries of the musculoskeletal system, chest and abdominal organs, and traumatic brain injury. They also practiced assisting patients with allergic reactions, strokes, heart attacks, and patients with seizures, as well as methods of stopping bleeding by applying a tourniquet and tamponading the wound. Finally, they practiced the methodology of conducting simulation trainings.
It is worth noting that this project is important and relevant given the current dangerous situation caused by the russian invasion.
