On June 23-24, 2023, a master class on laparoscopic colorectal and bariatric surgery was held in Saint-Laurent-du-Var (France). The Head of the Department of Surgery No. 4, Associate Professor Mykola Kravtsiv took part in it.
The program of the master class was very rich: it contained a theoretical component (lectures) and a practical one (operations).
"During the practical part, we learned new laparoscopic surgical procedures, which can later be passed on to young surgeons and interns," Mykola Kravtsiv said. - It is very important that the participants had the opportunity to discuss relevant topics with leading specialists: We comprehensively reviewed the general protocols for colorectal and bariatric surgery, early and late postoperative complications and ways to avoid them. And also discussed the choice of another bariatric procedure in case of failure or complication of previous operations. It is important that we had the opportunity to meet and establish contacts with leading European specialists, to exchange experience regarding laparoscopic treatment of surgical patients with the aim of reducing hospital stays and rapid rehabilitation, which is especially relevant in the conditions of martial law and the early post-war period. I hope that the received information will be implemented in practical health care" - Mykola Kravtsiv summed up the results of the master class.
The participation of our specialist in the international master class was made possible with the assistance and support of the rector of PSMU, professor Vyacheslav Zhdan and the director of the Poltava City Clinical Hospital, professor Maksym Dudchenko and the organizer of the event.
